What a busy week it has been for us here at the Brewery! Receiving awards for our beer and taking a trip to Liverpool for the annual event that is Siba BEER X on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th March, it’s been a lot of fun.
**MOSAIC WINS GOLD**
At Bradford Camra’s Bradford Beer Festival at the end of last month, held at the beautiful Victoria Hall in Saltaire, our Mosaic Pale was voted by the public the best beer in 4.6% – 5% category which won it Gold! Woohoo! On Sunday 11th March we attended the awards/volunteer party where we received our award plaque. We are really delighted to get this and would just like to thank each and every person who voted for our single hopped sensation that is Mosaic.
Tomorrow’s, Friday 2nd March, Brewery Tap opening is cancelled, all being well it is postponed until next Friday 9th March. The conditions at the brewery are not suitable and so we have decided it is best not to open. Apologies for any disappointment, we want to ensure people are safe and comfortable.
In a proper new year spirit, we have created some new beers this month. Check them out below along with the tasting notes.
Bingley Bitter 3.9% – Teak in appearance and brewed using a select blend of five malts.
Saaz, Magnum, Bullion and Goldings hops give this true Bitter an initial citrus aroma that gives way to a full palate and a dry, bitter finish.
Mosaic 4.6% – A pale golden coloured bitter, single hopped with the US Mosaic hop. Aromas of fresh tropical fruit and pine, with notes of citrus and herbs fizzing on the palate and a slightly dry finish.
Moo Moo 4.9% – A blend of Chocolate and Dark Crystal malts gives this Porter a superb silky dark appearance. The East Kent Goldings hop brings an earthy and honey flavour to the beer, organic cocoa adds a wonderful depth of chocolate and lactose gives a velvety milky texture and mouthfeel, all rounded off with Madagascan vanilla.
Eye’s Brewing Collaboration
Tuesday 28th November, Eye’s Brewing of Leeds joined us at the Brewery for a day of collaboration. Altweisse was created – a dark Westphalian Sticke Altbier. Brewed using wheat malts, a crisp body achieved by fermenting at a low temperature. Malty and fruity flavours can be found and noble hop aromas, with a wonderful subtle oakiness from the addition of French Oak chips to the cask. From a limited batch, we have been very pleased with the response and views.
This year we have brewed a Christmas Beer 🙂 May we present to you for the upcoming festive season CHRISTMAS COMET!
Dashing through the snow, Christmas Comet is a wonderful Christmas Bitter with a pale golden appearance. At a very drinkable 3.9%, it is brewed using Crystal and Munich Malt. Bramling Cross hop providing flavours of sweet toffee and caramel and a hint of biscuit. We have added orange peel to the boil to give a subtle festive zest to the brew. Notes of spice and fruity blackcurrant can be found, rounded off by a smooth and satisfying dry finish.
Friday the 1st December will see in our Christmas Bar opening and first time mini Christmas market. 4pm – 10.30pm.
Come along and enjoy a relaxed evening of festivities and merriment, our bar will be serving our Handcrafted Aire Valley Ale, mulled wine and of course mince pies! There will be a small selection of 6 stalls from small, Yorkshire based independent businesses/people with gifts and Christmas cards perfect for loved ones or even a little treat to yourself!
Last week (Tuesday 27th June) the guys from The Peacock Bar in Bradford joined us at the Brewery and got stuck in with the mashing of the grain for a new collaboration brew, a golden beer infused with Saffron! The guys also very kindly made everyone some delicious food using their clay oven which made us feel very spoilt!
The plan is for this collaborative brew to be showcased at the North Parade Street Party in Bradford on Saturday 22nd July, more info about the event can be found here: www.thebradfordreview.co.uk/food-drink-music-bradfordness-take-centre-stage-north-parade-street-party-july/
